Château Les Mesclances is a historic family estate in Provence, tracing its lineage back to Roman times, with winemaking records from the 16th century. Located near La Londe-les-Maures in the coastal hills of the Maures Massif, the estate is now led by the current generation with a strong commitment to organic farming and tradition. The 'Romane' cuvée is their flagship rosé, balancing elegance and mineral tension with sun-kissed southern charm.

From our 2025 Bottle Cult Notes:
Château Les Mesclances is as Provençal as it gets—its roots stretch back to Roman times, with winemaking records from the 16th century and family stewardship since the French Revolution. The 30-hectare estate sits in the coastal hills of the Maures Massif, just three kilometers from the French Riviera, where vines are cradled by forest, flanked by two converging streams (mesclances is local dialect for “the meeting of rivers”), and rise in gentle slopes toward a postcard-perfect château. Definitely worth a stop if you ever find yourself nearby.
Today, Sophie and Olivier de Villeneuve Bargemon farm organically, letting the schist and clay-limestone soils and salty Mediterranean breezes work their magic. Romane, their flagship cuvée, is classic Côtes de Provence rosé—a direct press blend of 70% Grenache with Cinsault and Mourvèdre, sourced from 20-year-old vines at the base of the hill. The Grenache spends a few hours on its skins, adding depth and structure.
In the glass, it’s pale salmon with aromas of wild strawberry, white peach, and citrus blossom. The palate is crisp and mineral, kissed with a whisper of salinity and finishing fresh and elegant. It’s the kind of wine that begs for a Niçoise salad, grilled prawns, or a sunny spot where you can pretend you’re on the Côte d’Azur.
