Sicily & Sardegna (Sardinia)
The islands of Sicily and Sardinia are renowned for their robust viticultural heritage and unique grape varieties. Both islands offer wines that are as diverse as their stunning terrains and historical influences.
Sicily: Known for its powerful and aromatic Nero d'Avola, Sicily also excels with other indigenous varietals like Grillo and Catarratto, producing wines that are bold and sun-drenched, yet surprisingly fresh. The volcanic soils of Mount Etna contribute to the unique mineral and complex profile of wines like Etna Rosso, made primarily from the Nerello Mascalese grape.
Sardinia: Sardinia offers a distinct palette with its flagship Vermentino, delivering crisp, aromatic whites that capture the breezy, Mediterranean climate. The island is also home to Carignano, producing rich, full-bodied reds with a rustic charm, and Cannonau, known locally as Grenache, which produces deeply colored, intense wines that are perfect with hearty local cuisine.
