The Meyer family has maintained a tradition of viticulture in Blienschwiller since 1722. Hubert Meyer, and his son Pierre since 2009, a graduate of oenology, have been crafting the wines of this estate, spanning approximately 10 hectares. Their impressive collection includes Vins de Tradition, focusing on Alsatian grape varieties, and Vins de Prestige, produced from selectively harvested plots in favorable years. The Prestige selection features barrel-aged Pinot Noir, along with Pinot Gris and Riesling sourced from the prestigious Grand Cru Winzenberg Vineyard. Pierre also produces exquisite Crémant d’Alsace Blanc and Rosé Brut using the Methode Champenoise. With a conversion to biodynamic practices in 2019, their wines distinctly reflect the superior quality of their terroir and grape varieties.
- Winemaker: Pierre Meyer
- Farming: Biodynamic
- Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
- Terroir: The grapes are sourced from vineyards around Blienschwiller, characterized by their unique Alsatian soil composition which adds distinct minerality to the wine.
- Vinification: Made following the Méthode Champenoise, which includes secondary fermentation in the bottle to achieve the sparkling characteristic.
- Aging: Aged on lees in the bottle for 18 months to enhance complexity and texture before disgorgement.
- Tasting Note: This Crémant d'Alsace Rosé displays a vibrant pink hue with a nose of fresh strawberries, cherries, and a hint of almond. On the palate, it offers a refreshing acidity and creamy mousse, leading to a dry, elegant finish.
