NEBBIOLO
EARTHY & COMPLEX and TANNIC
ORGANIC FARMING
WOMAN-MADE and COLLECTIBLE & CELLAR-WORTHY
LA MORRA, BAROLO, and PIEMONTE
ITALY

Located in La Morra, Alberto and Caterina's parents and grandparents have been growing Nebbiolo on their family land for almost 100 years, but they decided to finally take the plunge into winemaking. The energetic siblings are farming organically in the vineyards surrounding their home in the village of Santa Maria, and since their first vintage in 2012 have been creating small, standout productions.

  • WINEMAKERS: Alberto and Caterina Burzi
  • FARMING: Sustainable, with organic practices (not certified)
  • VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo
  • TERROIR: Sourced exclusively from the Capalot cru in La Morra, a site known for its calcareous clay soils with a higher percentage of sand, yielding Barolo with elegance and approachability. The vineyard’s southwest exposure enhances ripening while preserving freshness.
  • VINIFICATION: Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel; extended maceration for enhanced complexity and structure.
  • AGING: Aged for approximately 24 months in large Slavonian oak botti, allowing for a balanced expression of fruit and terroir.
  • TASTING NOTES: Captivating aromas of violets, wild strawberries, and sweet spices lead into deeper notes of leather, dried herbs, and forest floor. On the palate, finely integrated tannins frame flavors of red cherry, blood orange, and star anise, with bright acidity providing energy and length. A refined, terroir-driven Barolo with excellent aging potential.
  • FOOD PAIRINGS: Ideal with truffle-infused dishes, braised veal shank, porcini mushroom risotto, or aged Pecorino cheese.
