Domaine de Ronsard 'La Pleiade' Sancerre, France 2023

The Ronsard brand is a collection of fine wines created in partnership with wine growers from the Loire Valley, Pierre de Ronsard, the founding father of 'La Pleiade', authored countless love poems about the roses of the Loire Valley. Today, roses are still present at every row of vines, used by vintners to detect odium, a fungal spore that compromises the health of grapevines.

Domaine de Ronsard crafts this Sancerre cuvée—a tribute to the celebrated Pléiade poets—distinguished by its bright clarity and minerality.

• TERROIR: Sancerre AOC, in the Loire Valley, renowned for its mineral-rich, citrus-driven Sauvignon Blancs. 'La Pleiade' hails from these famous plots: Chene Marchand, Les Monts Damnes, Chasseignes and Les Deserts. The is cuvée is
  issued from a clay (Chavignol) and limestone soil (Bue and Sancerre) covering 24 hectares.

• VINIFICATION/AGING: Using traditional methods, the juice is gravity-fed into tanks to settle before fermentation and aging in stainless steel. The end wine is clarified and gently filtered.

• TASTING NOTES: The wine’s aroma is defined by pure minerality and exotic fruit impressions. On the palate, expect grapefruit, lychee, lime, green apple, grapefruit zest, and citrus, with an excellent, zesty acidity and a clean, crisp, persistent finish. 

• FOOD PAIRINGS: Ideal and easy to drink during the day or as an aperitif. Pairs amazingly with grilled fish, salmon tartar or fresh spinach and goats cheese salad.
