Bodegas La Horra is a project of Bodegas Roda in Rioja, created after four years of research to identify the best terroir for Tempranillo outside Rioja. They found it in Ribera del Duero’s village of La Horra, partnering with the Balbás family to work with old bush vines of Tinta del País. Corimbo represents their vision of Ribera: a precise, organic Tempranillo shaped by limestone soils and long tradition.
-
WINEMAKER: Bodegas Roda technical team in partnership with the Balbás family.
-
FARMING: Certified Organic.
-
VARIETY: 100% Tinta del País (Tempranillo).
-
TERROIR: La Horra and Roa (Ribera del Duero DO). Limestone and chalk soils; average vine age 25 years. Ribera vineyards lie across terraces (terrazas), countryside flats (campiña), shallow slopes (laderas), and steeper hillsides (cuestas).
-
VINIFICATION: Fermentation in a mix of large wooden vats and stainless steel.
-
AGING: 14 months in barrel (80% French oak, 20% American oak).
-
TASTING NOTES: Dense and concentrated, with dark berry fruit, plum, and black cherry layered with notes of spice, cocoa, and tobacco. Structured and powerful, yet lifted by acidity from chalky soils. Oak tones of vanilla and spice are still integrating, supported by firm tannins and a long finish.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Roast lamb, suckling pig, ribeye steak, braised short ribs, and manchego cheese.
-
SCORES: 92+ pts, Wine Advocate (Luis Gutiérrez): “Riper and with more alcohol… rusticity compared to 2019. Shows spiciness from the barrels, which should integrate with time in bottle.”

TECHNICAL DETAILS:
-
Alcohol: 14.5%
