BLIND TASTING WORKSHOP! - OCTOBER 23RD
Founded by French winemaker Stephan Asseo in 1998, L’Aventure embodies the “adventure” of blending Bordeaux and Rhône varieties on the rugged, limestone-rich hills of Paso Robles’ west side. Known for producing powerful yet elegant wines that unite French sensibility with California intensity, L’Aventure has become one of the Central Coast’s most acclaimed estates.
- WINEMAKER: Stephan Asseo
- FARMING: Sustainably farmed estate vineyards; dry-farmed and cultivated without herbicides or pesticides.
- VARIETY: 66% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot
- TERROIR: From estate vineyards in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, defined by calcareous shale and limestone soils, steep slopes, and a maritime-influenced climate with large diurnal temperature swings.
- VINIFICATION: Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Each lot vinified separately for precision blending.
- AGING: Aged 14 months in 60% new French oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.
- TASTING NOTES: A rich, opulent red with layers of black cherry, cassis, and plum compote, accented by espresso, graphite, and baking spice. The Syrah adds plush texture and dark fruit, while the Cabernet and Petit Verdot lend structure and finesse. Polished tannins lead to a long, savory finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, duck confit, or aged cheddar.
