Entre Vinyes ‘Funambul’ Brut Nature, Penedès, Spain 2020
Entre Vinyes is the organic project of Maria Barrena (also of Azul y Garanza) and her husband Josep, a third-generation grower in Penedès. Their old vineyards, planted between 1938 and 1963, were once sold to large Cava producers. Since taking over in 2012, the couple has focused on crafting expressive sparkling wines from certified organic vines surrounded by biodiversity, restoring vitality to the Baix Penedès landscape.

FARMING: Certified Organic.

VARIETY: 50% Xarel·lo, 30% Macabeo, 20% Parellada.

TERROIR: La Plana vineyard, village of L’Arboç, Baix Penedès. Vines planted between 1938–1963 at ~450 m elevation on calcareous limestone soils. Mediterranean influence with cooling breezes from the nearby sea.

VINIFICATION: Traditional method sparkling. Base wine fermented for 20 days at 16°C, followed by a slow secondary fermentation at low temperature in bottle. Clarified manually.

AGING: 15 months on the lees in bottle. Disgorged without dosage (Brut Nature).

TASTING NOTES: Clean and subtle with aromas of peach skin, green apple, and Bartlett pear layered over sea salt minerality and notes of bread dough. Crisp, taut, and refreshing with a bone-dry finish.
