ABC+ brings Italian simplicity to Portuguese trout with this herb-laced conserva. Garlic and parsley take the lead in a delicate Aglio e Olio sauce that lifts—not masks—the fish. Sourced from the Rio Coura and hand-packed just blocks from the Port of Matosinhos, this tin is summer in a can.
-
Origin: Portugal
-
Caught In: Rio Coura, Northern Portugal
-
Fish Variety: Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
- Ingredients: Trout, olive oil, garlic, parsley, salt
-
Tasting Notes:
This tin delivers clean, flaky trout infused with roasted garlic and fresh parsley. The palate is light and herbal, with a silky olive oil texture and a citrusy finish. -
Serving Suggestions:
Flake it over a summer salad with lemon vinaigrette, spoon onto crusty bread with pickled onions, or enjoy straight from the tin with bitter greens and a crisp glass of Vinho Verde. -
Can it be heated?
Yes—but gently. To warm, place the unopened tin in a bowl of hot (not boiling) water for 5–10 minutes. Alternatively, you can transfer the contents to a pan and heat over low flame just until warm. Avoid high heat to preserve the delicate texture and flavors. -
Made by: ABC+ by José Gourmet – an experimental and small-scale project bringing bold, globally inspired sauces to conservas, with each tin packed by hand just a few blocks from the fishing port in Matosinhos.
