Clemens Busch Riesling Trocken, Mosel, Germany 2023
Estate wine from a biodynamic pioneer in Pünderich’s steep slate terraces. Clemens Busch and his late wife Rita have pushed organic and biodynamic standards on the Mosel since the 1970s—this Trocken is their everyday benchmark, blazing with precision.

VARIETY: Riesling

TERROIR: Pulled from multiple parcels in the Marienburg vineyard (Pünderich), on steep grey‐slate soils. Vines range from young to 50–60 years old.

VINIFICATION: Spontaneous (wild yeast) fermentation at low temperatures; short maceration; fermented 60 % in old barrels, 40 % in stainless steel; around 20 % undergo malolactic fermentation; extended lees contact; minimal sulfur at bottling.

AGING: Approximately 9–10 months on lees in old Fuder barrels and stainless steel.

TASTING NOTES: On the nose: white peach, Nashi pear, grapefruit, lemon balm, thyme, mint, coriander, herbal spice, vibrant slate minerality. On the palate: razor-sharp acidity, lean and energetic, precise and salty-mineral drive, light-bodied yet intense. Only 10.5% alcohol with ~5.7 g/l residual sugar and ~7.9 g/l acidity.
