VARIETY: 100% Riesling
-
TERROIR: The 'Kellerberg' vineyard is situated on the steep, sun-drenched terraces of the Wachau region, overlooking the Danube River. The combination of the region's unique climate, rocky soils with a high proportion of primary rock, and the reflective influence of the river creates ideal conditions for growing Riesling. The site enjoys an optimal balance of warmth and coolness, which contributes to the wine's distinctive minerality and freshness.
-
VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested from the terraced vineyards, the grapes undergo fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged on the fine lees for several months, enhancing texture and complexity.
-
AGING: Aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and purity, with an additional 6 months of bottle aging before release.
-
TASTING NOTES: This Riesling Smaragd displays vibrant aromas of ripe citrus fruits, green apple, and white peach, complemented by hints of honey, floral notes, and a distinctive minerality. The palate is full-bodied yet balanced, with crisp acidity and a lingering finish that is marked by zesty citrus and a touch of slate. The wine’s rich texture and mineral-driven finish reflect the unique terroir of the Wachau.
