Bandol is one of the oldest vineyard in France. The first vine was planted by the Romans 2,500 years ago. Chateau Vannières is recognized among the most prestigious domaines of Bandol. Gaston Boisseaux, from Beaune in Burgundy acquired this property in 1957 and now, his son Eric is winemaker. Farming in the vineyard follows the purest tradition of the appellation, encouraging wines that can age 30 years or more.

- Variety: 95% Mourvèdre 5% Grenache
- Terroir: Marls, limestone and sand.
- Vinification: Hand harvested and hand sorted grapes in the vineyard and a second time at the entrance of the winery. Long vinification of 30 to 33 days with daily punchdowns. Whole cluster fermentation.
- Aging: 24 months in oak barrels and “foudres” Cellared a minimum of 1 year before legal release on march first of the third year after harvest.
- Tasting Notes: Tasting Notes A rather dense color, with amber rim variations. The nose is marked by notes of quince, figs, liquorice, pepper, mint, with an ethereal touch. The attack is supple but the tannins are still pretty firm with some vegetal notes and spices.
- Pairings: Truffles dishes. Grilled and baked duck, lamb, beef and game.
