While driving northwest on Hwy 128 through the “Deep End” of Anderson Valley, it is difficult not to be struck by the majesty of Bearwallow Vineyard. As you round the bend, the sight of the steep vineyard-covered hills rising above the redwoods is quite spectacular.

Terroir: 300' to 600' above sea level. Topsoils range from 10-25"over fractured shale, quartz and sandstone.

Vinification: Hand-harvested, cold soaked, whole cluster pressed, native-yeast fermentation and resting for 1 year in barrel, 15% of which is new French oak. Natural malolactic fermentation.

Aging: Elevage for 1 year in 15% new French oak, then racked once to stainless steel tank on gross lees for 6 months before bottling. No battonage.

Tasting Notes: Round and slightly rich, with white peach and bosc pear, acacia, and dusty river rock minerality. Complex and elegant, with light notes of creme fraiche and cinnamon. Long-aging ability.
