Leo Steen Wines, founded by Danish-born sommelier turned winemaker Leo Hansen, is dedicated to crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines with a focus on Chenin Blanc. The 'Saini Farms' Chenin Blanc showcases Hansen's passion for this varietal, offering a still expression that reflects both the vineyard's character and his minimalist winemaking approach.
- WINEMAKER: Leo Hansen
- FARMING: Sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, emphasizing environmental stewardship and vineyard health
- VARIETY: 100% Chenin Blanc
- TERROIR: The Saini Farms vineyard is located in the Dry Creek Valley AVA, characterized by well-drained, stony soils and a warm climate tempered by cool evening breezes. These conditions are ideal for Chenin Blanc, imparting freshness and vibrant acidity.
- VINIFICATION: Grapes are hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed. Fermentation occurs with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity and freshness of the fruit.
- AGING: Aged on fine lees in neutral French oak barrels for approximately 4 months, enhancing texture and complexity while maintaining vibrancy.
- TASTING NOTES: Aromas of Anjou pear, green apple, quince, lemon verbena, and white flowers. The palate offers a silky texture with flavors of orchard fruit, Meyer lemon, and green pineapple, leading to a long, mineral-driven finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Ideal with shellfish, spicy dishes, lean fish, and mild, soft cheeses.
