Domaine Marquis d'Angerville, a historic estate in Volnay, is renowned for producing wines that epitomize the elegance and finesse of Burgundy. The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge reflects the estate's commitment to biodynamic viticulture and meticulous winemaking, offering a pure expression of Pinot Noir from the region.
- WINEMAKER: Guillaume d'Angerville
- FARMING: Certified biodynamic practices
- VARIETY: 100% Pinot Noir
- TERROIR: Sourced from various plots within the commune of Volnay, including Grandes Lands, Petits Prés, Grandes Terres, Condemaine, and Céquenceain. These vineyards are characterized by deep, clay-rich soils, with vines averaging 30 years in age, contributing to the wine's depth and complexity.
- VINIFICATION: Vinified with the same care as the domaine's Premier Cru wines, employing traditional fermentation methods to preserve the purity of fruit and expression of terroir.
- AGING: Aged in French oak barrels (used) for 12-15 months, allowing for integration of flavors and development of complexity without imparting dominant oak characteristics.
- TASTING NOTES: A vibrant purple hue of medium depth. The nose is striking, with a burst of Pinot fruit, complemented by subtle meaty undertones from the Gamay component. On the palate, it offers crunchy strawberry fruit, lively acidity, and a persistent finish, showcasing remarkable balance and elegance for this level.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, duck confit, and dishes featuring earthy mushrooms or truffles.

- 90 points – Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy: "Just bottled before the harvest. A pretty purple of medium depth, but it is the nose which is striking with a burst of pinot fruit, backed by a little meatiness from the gamay. The latter also delivers more acidity. Crunchy strawberry fruit at the back, absolutely lovely. If you want a brilliant bottle from chez d’Angerville at an affordable price, look no further. Really a very persistent finish for this level."
