Mary Taylor Wines is a collaborative project founded on the belief that high-quality, regionally expressive European wines should be accessible and affordable. Partnering with small growers who practice responsible farming and traditional winemaking, Mary Taylor curates wines that serve as transparent reflections of their appellations. This Bordeaux Rouge, made in collaboration with famed vintner and former Formula 1 champion Jean-Marc Barthez, captures the essence of classic Right Bank Bordeaux—earthy, structured, and impeccably balanced.

WINEMAKER: Jean-Marc Barthez
-
FARMING: Sustainable farming practices; low-intervention viticulture with a focus on soil preservation and biodiversity.
-
VARIETY: 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
-
TERROIR: Sourced from vineyards in the Entre-Deux-Mers region of Bordeaux, where the climate is moderated by Atlantic influences. The soils are composed of clay, limestone, and gravel—ideal for Merlot-driven blends, allowing for both ripeness and natural acidity. The elevation and orientation of the parcels help preserve freshness and aromatics in warmer vintages.
-
VINIFICATION: Hand-harvested grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. Gentle extraction methods are employed to maintain fruit purity and soft tannins.
-
AGING: Aged for 12 months in stainless steel and concrete tanks to preserve freshness and varietal character, with minimal use of oak to retain the wine’s authentic regional expression.
-
TASTING NOTES: This Bordeaux Rouge opens with inviting aromas of black cherry, cassis, and violet, framed by subtle notes of tobacco, graphite, and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with polished tannins, juicy red and black fruit, and a touch of savory minerality. It finishes with lift and precision, balancing youthful vibrancy with classic Bordeaux structure.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: A versatile partner for roast chicken, grilled lamb, lentil stew, or mushroom-based dishes. Also excellent with aged cheeses and charcuterie.
