Arpepe Valtellina Superiore Grumello 'Rocca de Piro' 2015 is a refined expression of Nebbiolo from the steep, terraced vineyards of Valtellina. This wine showcases the elegance and complexity that can be achieved in this alpine region, with a focus on freshness and structure.
- Winemaker: Isabella Pelizzatti Perego and Emanuele Pelizzatti Perego, continuing the family’s legacy of crafting traditional Nebbiolo wines.
- Farming: Organic and sustainable farming practices.
- Variety: 100% Nebbiolo (locally known as Chiavennasca).
- Terroir: Grown on steep south-facing slopes at 350-500 meters elevation in Grumello, where decomposed granite soils lend a distinctive minerality.
- Vinification: Extended maceration for 110 days in large oak casks, followed by aging in neutral 50hl casks for 18 months and 24 months in bottle.
- Tasting Notes: Elegant aromas of red cherry, raspberry, violet, and dried rose petals, with layers of iron, truffle, and wet stone. On the palate, it is bright and fresh, with firm tannins and a long, mineral finish. Pairs well with game meats, roasted lamb, or alpine cheeses.
