WINEMAKER: Steffen and Andy Rings
-
FARMING: Sustainable
-
VARIETY: 100% Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir)
-
TERROIR: The Pfalz region, located in southwestern Germany, benefits from a warm climate and diverse soils, including limestone, sandstone, and clay, which provide excellent conditions for growing Spätburgunder. The vineyard sites are positioned on gentle slopes, which ensure optimal sun exposure and drainage, contributing to the wine's ripe fruit profile and balanced acidity.
-
VINIFICATION: The 2020 Spätburgunder is crafted from hand-harvested grapes, with fermentation occurring in stainless steel to preserve freshness and fruit purity. The wine undergoes a gentle maceration to extract color and tannin, followed by a natural malolactic fermentation to enhance roundness and texture.
-
AGING: Aged in a combination of stainless steel and used oak barrels for 12 months to provide subtle complexity while maintaining the freshness of the fruit. Unfined and unfiltered.
-
TASTING NOTES: The 2020 Rings Spätburgunder offers aromas of fresh red berries, including cherry and raspberry, with delicate notes of rose petal, dried herbs, and a touch of earthy minerality. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with silky tannins and vibrant acidity, offering flavors of ripe fruit and a hint of spice, with a smooth, lingering finish.
-
FOOD PAIRINGS: Perfect with roasted duck breast, grilled pork tenderloin, or a mushroom risotto. It also pairs well with soft cheeses like Brie or Gruyère.
