Established in the early 1900s, the Mazzi estate is a family-owned winery located on the hills of Negrar in the Valpolicella Classico region. Now managed by brothers Stefano and Antonio Mazzi, the estate combines tradition with innovation to produce elegant wines that reflect the unique terroir of their vineyards.
- WINEMAKERS: Stefano and Antonio Mazzi
- FARMING: Practicing Organic; the estate employs sustainable viticulture methods, including the use of copper and sulfur-based products to manage fungi, biological pest control, and organic fertilizers.
- VARIETY: 65% Corvina, 5% Corvinone, 20% Rondinella, 10% Molinara
- TERROIR: The vineyards are situated on calcareous, silty, clay soils in the Negrar region, with select fruit sourced from a vineyard adjacent to the farmstead and other estate vineyards.
- VINIFICATION: Fermentation and maceration occur in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with daily punching down of the cap for approximately seven days.
- AGING: The wine matures in medium-capacity oak casks for about 12 months, followed by an additional three months in the bottle before release.
- TASTING NOTES: This Valpolicella Classico Superiore exhibits a vibrant ruby red color. On the nose, it offers aromas of red cherries, plums, and subtle hints of spices. The palate is well-balanced, featuring flavors of ripe red fruits, soft tannins, and a pleasant acidity that leads to a harmonious finish.
- FOOD PAIRINGS: Pairs excellently with pasta dishes, roasted meats, and medium-aged cheeses.
