Cobb 'Coastlands Vineyard' Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, California 2021 is a complex and elegant Pinot Noir from one of Sonoma Coast’s most unique vineyard sites. With its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and elevation, this wine captures the essence of coastal influence with its vibrant acidity and layered flavors.
- Winemaker: Ross Cobb, known for crafting exceptional Pinot Noir from cool-climate sites.
- Farming: Sustainable farming practices in one of Sonoma County’s oldest Pinot Noir vineyards.
- Variety: 100% Pinot Noir, from several clones including Wadensvil and Pommard.
- Terroir: The Coastlands Vineyard sits at 1150 feet above sea level, three miles from the coast, benefiting from marine influence, deep soils, and small yields that produce intense, complex fruit.
- Vinification: The wine includes 40% whole cluster fermentation, adding structure and spice to the final blend.
- Aging: Aged in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop complexity and elegance.
- Tasting Notes: Aromas of pomegranate, red licorice, and lavender. On the palate, it showcases flavors of bright red fruit, saline, and a touch of spicy oak, with medium body and refined, chalky tannins. Pairs beautifully with duck, game birds, or mushroom-based dishes.
