NEBBIOLO
EARTHY & COMPLEX and TANNIC
ORGANIC FARMING
WOMAN-MADE
LA MORRA, BAROLO, and PIEMONTE
ITALY

Located in La Morra, Alberto and Caterina's parents and grandparents have been growing Nebbiolo on their family land for almost 100 years, but they decided to finally take the plunge into winemaking. The energetic siblings are farming organically in the vineyards surrounding their home in the village of Santa Maria, and since their first vintage in 2012 have been creating small, standout productions.

Planted to Tortonian soils, Barolo made from La Morra tends to be softer and more perfumed, often considered a more delicate iteration of the region. Alberto does well to capture this softer side, but uses daily pumpovers in the winery to extract a touch more power and concentration in his wines.

  • WINEMAKERS: Alberto and Caterina Burzi
  • FARMING: Organic
  • VARIETY: 100% Nebbiolo
  • TERROIR: Sourced from select vineyards across La Morra, featuring calcareous clay soils with sandy components; the region benefits from significant diurnal shifts, contributing to the wine’s balance of structure and finesse.
  • VINIFICATION: Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks; extended maceration to enhance depth and complexity.
  • AGING: Aged for approximately 24 months in large Slavonian oak botti to maintain purity of fruit while allowing slow, graceful development.
  • TASTING NOTES: Aromas of dried roses, red cherries, and anise unfold with layers of tobacco, tar, and earthy truffle. The palate is structured yet refined, with firm tannins and vibrant acidity supporting flavors of dark berries, licorice, and spice. A long, evolving finish promises great aging potential.
  • FOOD PAIRINGS: Perfect alongside braised short ribs, wild mushroom risotto, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, or classic tajarin pasta with white truffle.
